چکیده
• All tested blends offer a HC and CO advantage over conventional diesel at low-load. emissions increase with increasing biofuel content medium-load high-EGR LTC. Crevice volume non-negligible for LTC operating points. An experimental study was performed on single-cylinder high-speed direct-injection research engine to determine the effects of biodiesel combustion characteristics during low temperature operation. Two test points, moderately dilute low-load condition condition, were examined constant speed 1500 rpm fixed input fuel energy start injection timing. The results show two conditions have very different sensitivities fuel’s and, as result, demonstrate contrasting behaviour respect variation blend composition. For load, medium dilution case, ignition delay, phasing duration are essentially independent while reduced base diesel. high-EGR, load delay is advances levels content. Crank-angle aligned measurements indicate significance piston/wall crevice an source in

CFD Modeling Study of High Temperature and Low Oxygen Content Exhaust Gases Combustion Furnaces
This paper reports a CFD modeling study on the possibility of using high temperature and low oxygen content exhaust gases as oxidant for combustion in an industrial furnace by a written computer program. Under these conditions, the predicted results for the flow and heat transfer properties are compared with those under the several cases of conventional and highly preheated...
متن کاملIgnition Characteristics of Diesel and Canola Biodiesel Sprays in the Low-Temperature Combustion Regime
The objective of this work is to investigate the spray ignition characteristics of diesel and canola-derived biodiesel in a rapid compression machine at the low temperatures (676 816 K) and reduced oxygen concentrations (12 and 18%) that are used in low-temperature combustion strategies of advanced diesel engines. A method for testing ignition delay times and apparent heat release rates at a se...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation on the Effect of Injection Timing on Combustion and Emissions in a DI Diesel Engine at Low Temperature Combustion Condition
One promising way to achieve low temperature combustion regime is the use of a large amount of cooled EGR. In this paper, the effect of injection timing on low temperature combustion process and emissions were investigated via three dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) procedures in a DI diesel engine using high EGR rates. The results show when increasing EGR from low levels to levels...
متن کاملA New Strategy for Reduction of Emissions and Enhancement of Performance Characteristics of Dual Fuel Engines at Part Loads
Increasingly restrictive emission regulations and renewed focus on energy efficiency drive the current researches to find alternative fuels and their related better combustion strategies. In this regard, dual fuel engines, in which natural gas fuel is used as a main fuel and diesel fuel is employed as a pilot fuel, have received considerable attention. However, poor fuel utilization efficiencie...
